2018年 東京藝術大学大学院保存修復日本画博士課程修了。「おのずからなるもの」を主題とし、伝統的な技法や材料を用いて発性を取り込みながら自然と対話するように制作する。

Julie Hayashi Solo Exhibition “風声｜Fu-sei”
”Spreading washi paper across the earth, I attune my ears to the sawari — the subtle resonances of the land.
These vibrations flow through the body to the tip of the brush, merging with the natural traces left by the environment and rising onto the surface as painting.”
Julie Hayashi will hold her solo exhibition in Kyoto at Reigen-in, a sub-temple of Kennin-ji.
Her works, in which tradition and contemporary expression converge, will be presented in a special space that leads to a Zen garden symbolizing the life of the Buddha.
In this place, where one can feel the great cycle of all things, nature and humanity, past and present, quietly meet and resonate.
Julie Hayashi
PhD in Conservation and Restoration of Japanese Painting, Tokyo University of the Arts (2018).
Her work explores “what arises on its own” (onozukara naru mono), creating in dialogue with nature while embracing chance, using traditional Japanese painting techniques and materials.
