Movie Screening and Special Talk
This event is supported as a project of Kyoto Arts Core Network.
On March 23, “Passing through the Shrine’s Gate” (directed by Shō Ikeda, 2016, 65min) will be screened in Kyoto Art Center. Through the beautiful and mysterious images of the gate and forest of the village shrine, this movie will reveal the Japanese view on nature and their way of life inherited since the ancient time period.
After screening the movie, the special talk will be held by Shō Ikeda (Director), Takashi Ogasawara (Producer), and Taisuke Karasawa who studies the thoughts of Kumagusu Minakata (1867-1941). Kumagusu Minakata, Japanese eminent scholar of natural history, is the extremely important motif in this movie.
