“Yosakoi World” photo exhibition of Masahiro Okawa is held at Artisan Japanesque 1F “Yuki” From Tue., Nov 21 to Mon., Nov 27 2017.
I suffered cerebral infarction fourteen years ago, and after a month of coma, miraculously came to my life again. Aphasia and right-handedness became inconvenient, but I was advised by a doctor “You should have some hobby" for rehabilitation, and this is a reason I got a camera and started shooting. At the beginning, I was shooting quiet photos such as autumn leaves and Buddha statues, but I was gradually fascinated by Yosakoi which is a unique style of dance that originated in Japan. I have visited various place of the Yosakoi Tournament to be held and took pictures. By keep on touching the momentum of the dancers, now my body has recovered well.
I am happy if you could receive the power by feeling the vigorous movement and breathing of Yosakoi and the dancers’ sense of exaltation.
