Exhibition by two emerging painters, KIYOTA Yasuhiro and JIMBA Keisuke

KIYOTA Yasuhioro and JIMBA Keisuke, both born in 1985 and after graduating art universities in Kyoto, have been based there since then. Artistic practices of these two painters respond to the question: "Why painting now?" They both embody their work being led by extremely intimate and personal senses: impressions received from certain words or concepts, or personal attachments to things that the artist has been using daily. Through the time spent on paintings, their body sensation get interwoven and thus their works develop into something that paintings can only be.
To best describe such paintings, in this exhibition we use the expression "Flesh and Veil".
Earlier on we mentioned body sensation, however, to be precise it's not this objective thing that centers in their works. It is actually something that is deeply inextricable for two painters, almost forms themselves, and that is, indeed appropriate to be called "Flesh".
Flesh is not presented as it is. What existed inside them piles up on canvas or is placed underneath transparent surface as they paint. Flesh itself becomes “Veil” and forms layers, or “Veil” covers flesh.
Both of their works reach paintings in this way.
